I first fell in love with Australian Shepherds in 2003 when I saw the breed featured in Dog Fancy magazine. I was convinced my first dog would be a black tri Aussie who would be my agility partner. My parents had other ideas and adopted a hound mix from the local shelter. Jenny had no interest in doing agility but she proved to be a wonderful family pet who taught me a lot about dogs.
When I was old enough to get my own dog I found myself still drawn to the Australian Shepherd. I befriended and worked for a local breeder and got my first Aussie, Pants for my 20th birthday. He has proven to be a challenge but that has only furthered my love of this highly intelligent breed. Pants fueled my continuing love of dog sports and I hope to be a good enough handler to qualify him for an international disc dog competition someday and maybe get our MACH.
